That is quite the loaded question! As others pointed out, they are both "junkie" in some ways. Like everything in life, moderation is the key. That being said, my family made the choice (we have 3 kids, ages 6, 11, and 12) to turn OFF the TV exactly one year ago. It has been quite the challenge at times, but the rewards are wonderful. All our kids are top readers in their class, we recreate outside constantly, and are put in a position to resolve conflict much more because we are communicating more frequently. The kids learn to cooperate, rely on imagination for entertainment and respect each other. They are not bombarded with unrealistic images of what people "should" look like, what they should buy, etc. My kids have even started jamming on their instruments together without prompting, and have been hired for local gigs. All in all, I am so glad we made the decision. Plus...I could NEVER give up my chocolate:)
